Junia-T: Studio Monk Deluxe — An Immersive RnB Experience

Toronto-based rapper Jonathan Lindo, professionally known as Junia T is a singer, producer and songwriter who has developed quite the fame over the last few years.

His artistic debut began in 2014, when he came out with his first track, “Eye See You.” The song did not do as well as the artist had hoped, and he even considered quitting music altogether.

Luckily for everyone, he didn’t. He joined Addy Papa’s Riot Club sessions not too long after, and signed with Pirates Blend. In January 2020, he released an album titled “Studio Monk,” where numerous artists blended beautifully with his production and sound. Junia T also tours with Jessie Reyez, working as a DJ. Reyez is a Toronto-based singer and songwriter whose voice is also present in Junia T’s record.

The deluxe edition of “Studio Monk” includes four new songs:

4 AM in Toronto, featuring Miloh Smith, an Atlanta-born singer and songwriter enhancing the genre-bending RnB feel of the record. She’s been in the hip-hop scene since 2015, after releasing her debut record, “Pretty Dirty.”

EstSde (Do What You Please) with Ice Tha One, a Toronto-based singer, introducing a myriad of sounds ranging from soul, to hip-hop and RnB, showcasing her emcee talents.

So Amazing, featuring Taji Love, a New York singer providing chill RnB and hip-hop beats to the record.

And last but certainly not least, Voltron Joint featuring two talents, Iman Omari, who started out as a producer for Kendrick Lamar and OverDoz. He later gained individual success in 2011 with is debut EP, “Energy.” There is also the sensual, soulful voice of Ego Ella May, combined with the generous hip-hop beats. May gained fame once she released her first EP, “So Far” in 2019.

“Studio Monk” was long-listed for the 2020 Polaris Music Prize, a music award annually given to the best full-length Canadian album based on artistic merit, regardless of genre, sales, or record label.
