Discover NEW CITY: the Toronto-based trio is a new band with a new sound for this new moment. With Adrian Mitchell (vocals), Jed Webster (guitar, programming) and Nathan Brown (drums, programming) — they are unapologetic about their pursuit of a good time.
Now living in a playlist culture. For listeners today, musical genres and divisions are breaking down, and songs live or die on their own merits—no longer dependent on which category they’re placed in. Mitchell points to “Getting Closer,” one of the most recent compositions, as an example of NEW CITY’s evolution. “It’s about breaking yourself down and putting everything on the table, but still feeling lost,” he says. “It reflects the ways we’ve found ourselves as a band and can talk about bigger topics. At first, we wrote about the things we wanted and desired, but now our writing is starting to reflect what our purpose actually is and what we’re looking for in the future.”
The members of this dirty digital pop band may still be young, but it’s been a long road for them to get to the starting line. They all notice the growth and progress they feel, especially when they perform their first singles, "Coachella" and "Dirty Secrets". With their latest track “Getting Closer” being a declaration of empowerment for anyone else who is working towards their dreams, NEW CITY was recently disovered by music mogul Timbland himself!
Hopefully this will bring the Toronto band and this renowned producer to work together on future projects! For now, check out NEW CITY's new music video for their single "Getting Closer".
