Orville Peck Returns With “Summertime” New Track & Video

“Summertime” is first new music from Orville since debut album Pony

Canadian country artist Orville Peck has shared his new, self-produced track “Summertime” via Columbia Records. In tandem with the new song, Orville has also released the official video for “Summertime.” Directed by Drew Kirsch (Taylor Swift, John Legend) the video finds Orville, keeping within the cowboy way of life, traveling the distance, alone in a vast landscape. Watch the video below.

Says Orville, “I wrote this song a long time ago and to me, Summertime has a few different meanings. Summertime can be a season, a person, or a memory of a happier time that can be difficult to visit. We also wanted the video to focus around the idea of how we treat nature. Ultimately this is a song about biding your time and staying hopeful - even if it means missing something or someone.”

Orville first performed “Summertime” to an intimate, sold out crowd during a special, one-night only event at the Museum of Modern Art and again at a few tour dates before the tour was postponed. Orville then performed it for a larger audience on his livestreamed, at home concerts. Watch the livestreams here and here.

“Summertime” is the first new music Orville has shared since the release of his self-produced debut album, Pony, in March 2019. Pony released to both fan and critical support alike, with positive reviews from The New Yorker, Billboard, Rolling Stone Country, The FADER, NPR and many more. Known for not only his musicianship but also his visuals and live show, Orville toured Pony for nearly a year. Although his current tour is postponed, Orville is slated to perform at Coachella and Stagecoach this fall, as well as open for Harry Styles at his “Harryween” MSG shows this Halloween, pending future outcome.

More new music and visuals will be released in the coming weeks; fans should visit his official website and socials for updates.
